Help With Shipping

Can someone please tell me if this is possible with a combination of contributed modules, or is there a certain amount of programming on our part that would need to be done?

We would like to have a flat rate of $xx.xx amount of dollars for only certain products and then have other products be priced based on weight according to UPS, or maybe have a price based on weight? Can anyone give advice as to how to go about doing this?

Re: Help With Shipping

Flat Rate for some Products meaning ... what exactly? That if all products in the cart are these "flat rate shipping" products that there is a single shipping fee? Or, that for each of these "flat rate shipping" products there is a rate per item?

What happens when both the "flat rate shipping" products and "other products based on weight" for UPS are in the same order?

Does the "flat rate shipping" products shipping rate "fall off" or does it get added to the "other products based on weight" for UPS shipping charges?

Re: Help With Shipping

Hey Linda,

I should have thought about that... thanks for helping me think through it.

I don't think I want it to fall off, just maybe if what is a flat rate is just applied to the total of the items that are based on weight.

So if a customer ordered xx amounts of a flat rate item it would always be 7.95. But if they decide to include an item that is not within the flat rate category of products, the correct shipping amount would be included with the order based on weight.

Re: Help With Shipping

Let's try this ...

I order the following:

1 x Product 1 (flat rate)
what is my shipping?

2 x Product 1 (flat rate)
what is my shipping?

1 x Product 1 (flat rate)
1 x Product 2 (flat rate)
what is my shipping?

1 x Product 1 (flat rate)
3 x Product 2 (flat rate)
what is my shipping?

Now I order something that is NOT a flat rate product ...

1 x Product 4 (Normal weight) UPS $5.95
what is my shipping?

1 x Product 4 (Normal weight) UPS $5.95
1 x Product 1 (flat rate)
what is my shipping?

1 x Product 4 (Normal weight) UPS $5.95
2 x Product 1 (flat rate)
what is my shipping?

1 x Product 4 (Normal weight) UPS $5.95
1 x Product 1 (flat rate)
3 x Product 2 (flat rate)
what is my shipping?

Re: Help With Shipping

As ever with any shipping setup that requires deep thinking when it comes to trying to manipulate the ZC default offerings, I think you'll find that getting Advanced Shipper from ceon.net will help you out here - but I strongly suggest you email the author first with your requirement just to be sure it does cover this.
