Moving to new site, version compatibility.

Hello..

My Old site using ZenCart v 1.3.1
I want to move it to a new hosting company ..
the question is

Can I setup the site -on the new server- using latest zencart version 1.8.3a
then follow the steps of https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=100 (and overwrite the old files)
or I HAVE TO install the same old version 1.3.1 ?

If i have to install the old version, where on zencart site Can i download the old one?

The general recommendation is to never try to move and upgrade at the same time, because if you do experience problems it is difficult to determine whether it is a moving issue or an upgrading issue.

Either do the upgrade first and then do the move, or do a move using your existing files, and then do the upgrade.

My personal approach would be to do the move (to keep the store online), then upgrade the original installation, and when that is working ok, do another move. (assuming both servers are accessible at the same time).

It may be a bit more work, but if things do go wrong at any stage you've always got something to fall back on, as well as being easier to fix.
