Uploading template what goes where?

I've downloaded some templates and looked at the upload instructions and the FAQs on this site. Nothing really helps this beginner do it right.

The template downloads come with various folders/files in a folder called "includes." The instructions for each says to upload the includes directory to my site. But where?

Depending on where I upload certain folders, it will overwrite what's already there. For example, one template has the following folders in the zip file:

> > functions
> > > extra_functions
> > languages
> > > template_name (omitted here by me)
> > > english
> > modules
> > > template_name
> > templates
> > > template_name

Do I simply upload the entire template "includes" folder or all of its contents to the same place? Or to individual locations?

upload/FTP the includes folder to your server where you have Zen Cart installed

That would overwrite the entire includes folder already there, though. From what I could tell in the FAQ, you don't want to overwrite everything there because some of it is necessary for the ZenCart system to work.

It won't overwrite what's there. It'll add to it.

It will? I thought it would override. I guess that's only files, not directories. Thank you for clarifying for me afo.

Okay, I uploaded them and now all the sidebar sections are gone. All I did is upload the "includes" folder of the templates to the root directory. They are there in the default, but not the new templates... in any of them.
