How do I actually install a language pack?

I can't seem to find anything on actually installing a new language pack? I want to install both Arabic and Chinese simplified.

Can someone please point me in the right direction.

Hi, yes I actually figured it out, rather than reading it in a post. Lets see if I can remember the steps.

1. Download the language pack you want. Make sure that it's version matches your version of Zencart.
2. Put the zip file into a specific directory where you know where it will be, and you can keep it for later if you need it.
3. unpack it into that directory. It will create the various directories and files related to the install.
4. Read any text files - if any - related to it.
5. ftp the various directories directly to your zen directory. Note from the text files if any are overwritten on the server. Back them up!
6. Login to your admin console in Zen. Go to 'Localization'
7. Select 'Languages'
8. Click on the button [New Language]
9. Fill in the fields required like this (I'll use English as an example)
Name:
English
Code:
en
Image:
icon.gif
Directory:
English
Sort Order:
1

Note Well. All images are called 'icon.gif'. Case is very important. If you directory is called 'arabic' - don't type in 'Arabic'
The Code: is the true country code. as used on the internet.
The 'Directory' is the actual directory name where the language files are installed. In this case something like /includes/languages/English. Again, observer the correct case. If it starts with a capital letter, make it exactly the same.
That was my error. I changed case without thinking.

Don't forget to make one of the languages the 'default' language in the same editing interface.

That's about it I think. Once it's installed you can then use it. If it's installed, it's automatically available on your web site.

I did this and when i switched to the new language, it nuked my whole admin area.

I thought it might just be something weird with the lanugage pack (russian) so I deleted it via FTP, cloned the English one and renamed the folder and english.php file both to russian (observing casing) and still nothin ...

Anybody have ideas on what happened? Or how to fix it? Ugh.

Without getting an interpretation of what exactly you mean by that, it's extremely hard to recommend anything other than perhaps hunting down some lead suits to protect yourself from radiation poisoning.

haha ... Thanks. I figured it out. Fiddled wth phpmyadmin a bit and got things reverted back to english.
