I just found out about Zen Cart today and so far it looks very good.
One question i have is that i want to be able to sell digital templates, but the customer will have a 1 year subscription to download updates until the 1 year is over.
Is this possible with Zen cart?

You can set the valid time period for downloads to be available.
The standard model is to buy a particular download, so if you want unspecified downloads to be available you may need some custom code.
