You are using PHP 5.3, but Zen Cart v1.3.8a isn't compatible with PHP 5.3. You'll need to use PHP 5.2.x, which in your case means you'll need to use a slightly older version of XAMPP.

    Hi DrByte
Is there a way to get around the problem without having to use older version of XAMPP ?

    Not when using v1.3.8a.

v1.3.9 and v2.0.0 will be compatible with PHP 5.3, but their release dates are not yet published.
