While you're regaining control of your sites, be sure to think about your domain names. By the sounds of it he might have control over them as well. If so, there is a process for putting control of them into your hands. Ask if you need help on that front.

The whole world is full of wonderful Zen Cart Webmasters!!! I didn't know! I let one person control me and try to destroy my life, and believed everything he said to me. But when he said I had to start paying him $500 a month for maintenance without telling me what he was going to be doing... and took the other site offline as hostage, I knew that something was wrong. I knew I had to do something about it. I have been crying for days, haven't slept and have imagined the worse.. the money I have spent down the drain.. my online businesses gone.

I even prepaid him for January.. only to have him take me off line when I said I couldn't afford $500 a month for the soaps site.

When I threatened to sue him, he put the site back up, but told me he was taking it back down again today. Now I am not especially enamoured with bearlights.com but I have paid for it and thought it could be fixed up easier than starting over from scratch. But finally accepted the fact that I was going to have to start all over again.

Than, I get an email from Jack at Pima Host at 3AM last night.

20 minutes later he fixed the international issue on mamabearssoaps.com There was an update http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144992 my webmaster didn't even know about..

Jack asked me for access to what I have.. and I gave him access and went to bed.

I woke up this morning to find that Jack had been up all night.. he switched bearlights.com over to his hosting company. It is up live.. and guess what! He gave me admin access! I can now finish this site myself.

OMG I am shaking so hard I can barely type.

This man is the most incredible man I have ever run across in my life.. he has stayed up all night 3 times now to save me from my webmaster, and my own lack of knowledge, and has never charged me a cent. I don't know what to say. I have never had anyone do anything like this before for me in my entire life. More later, I need coffee and a good cry.

How can anyone possibly express the feelings after all of this. I don't know. I slept well last night, but am still emotionally exhausted. I honestly thought I was going to be out of business a few days back. Now, I am back in business and in the middle of setting up another business.. all because I asked for help from people who cared. I am so tired of crying, but I had one more good one just from the beauty of the help I have gotten and the people that are here who have helped me. I need to say something before I start moving on.. and I just don't know to say Thank You and have it mean as much in typed letters and reflect the feeling in my heart that I have right now.. omg, here I go crying again...

OK.. it's time to stop crying and start working.. I am hopeful. For once I feel pretty confident that I can fight and move forward instead of backwards.. I am so excited! I am so happy. I am so very, very grateful.

Pleased to hear things have turned out ok for you, and sites back to normal..Might be an idea to remove all links/banners re your previous webhost, before evil claws are sunk into some other unsuspecting zencart user...

I agree completely!! Misty, can you tell me step by step how to get his banner off the bottom of my pages thru the admin??? I will do it immediately.

I looked in the banner manager and am not seeing anything but Zen cart banners...

He has probably put the link code in /includes/templates/your_template/common/tpl_footer.php, and the banner code in tpl_main_page.php.

For starters, add this to the bottom of your stylesheet:

#RHINO_WRAP, #siteinfoLegal a+a+a {display: none;}

It will hide the links and banner, but not remove them from the output of your site.

Many times I too have stayed up until I beat the coding into submission...lol

give the path

/includes/templates/your_template/common/tpl_footer.php

to your guy that is helping you and he can then get the code out.

I would suggest not only getting his info out of the foot section of the site but if he did the template for any of your sites then think about getting a new template placed in there.

make the break totally new for your own piece of mind. make sure your domain names (the urls to your store) are actually in your name.

and do give a yell if we...here...can be of any help...I am as close as your pm's too.

OK, this is where you get started in running your own website:)

You will need to download a copy of the stylesheet to your home computer, add the line above, and upload it back to your website server.

To do this you will need two things: an FTP "client" and a good text editor.
Filezilla and Notepad++ are two good ones (there are others too), and are free from www.sourceforge.net .

Download and install those (they have instructions to walk you through the process), and come back when you are done or if you need help.

Then you can get to editing.
