OK, this is where you get started in running your own website:)

You will need to download a copy of the stylesheet to your home computer, add the line above, and upload it back to your website server.

To do this you will need two things: an FTP "client" and a good text editor.
Filezilla and Notepad++ are two good ones (there are others too), and are free from www.sourceforge.net .

Download and install those (they have instructions to walk you through the process), and come back when you are done or if you need help.

Then you can get to editing.

ok.. this is going to take a learning curve.. the ftp I can handle I believe.. but notepad looks scarey to me. I will have to play with it for a while to get the hang of it. I can do it.. just not right away.

But I believe I am on my way to independance and knowledge.. what an incredible feeling!

notepad or word pad work well on pc...and both come already installed on windows or vista I think

once you download the item you need then the one helping you can just tell you to find: and what to look for

then either add below, or repalce with: or like in the post he told you to add it at the top.


then you make a duplicate of the document to save it and use the duplicate to edit by copy/paste what you were told to add -- where they told you--save it -- upload it to the same place you got it from and say yes when asked to overwrite it.

The Notepad that comes with Windows is ok for a simple text editor, but it can sometimes cause errors in a PHP file if the wrong settings are active. Notepad++ is built for editing PHP, HTML and other files, and has a lot of features that make it safer, more reliable and more useful than Notepad.

If you open a .php, .html or .css file in Notepad++, you will see the different kinds of terms highlighted in different colors. This can also help you see when you have made a mistake, because the file after the mistake may suddenly change color.

Download a few files and save them under names like test.php; then you can play with them without fear of hurting anything.

I think that this part of it is honestly all over my head at this point.. I would like to continue learning to work within the zen cart program, but learning to do programming and text editing is beyond my capability... for now. I truly appreciate the help tho, because once I get to that point, I will be prepared.

I will ask Jack to get rid of Mongo's link... I also want to change the top banner on the pages.. but I think that I will leave mamabearssoaps.com alone after that and concentrate on bearlights.com. Jack IS creating a template for that one for me and I have all the photo's in a file (finally) that I can ftp over there.

I am not balking at the work, believe me, but I know when something is over my head.. and this is. I sure know what I need to tackle now tho after I get bearlights website done, with Jack's help.

I can't believe how far I have come in such a short time. I can't believe how much more confident and happy I am. I also can't believe the help that everyone is offering, it moves me (I won't say tears I promise) very much...

OK, no need to jump in over your head, but take some free time sometime and play with it, with an expendable copy of a file. At some point (maybe sooner than you think) the lightbulb will go on and you will wonder why you thought it was hard:)

I need to remove the links to Mongo... As Misty said, I don't want anyone else to get taken like I did. There are now 2 websites I have paid him for that no longer exist because he wanted more money from me.

I have designed a new banner for the top of this website and need it to be installed.

I am having shipping issues with international and really need to get that fixed

with the shaving soaps on my site, I would like to add an option that says would you like to upgrade this soap from the plastic tub to th wooden bowl.. and if so the cart should indicate that and the customer should be charged an additional $7.99

This is the second site I paid for and never got.. I need to start it all over again. I would like to hire someone to set it up for me like mamabearssoaps.com is set up.. so that I can start adding pages and products. I will probably need some customization done to the shipping area as these are all oversized items that need to ship via freight instead of the more standard ways..

I want to get started on all of this as soon as I can.. I really want to know that I am free from my old webmaster and moving forward again.
