    Default My v1.3.8a running SUPER slow?

    I just installed the latest version of Zen Cart [1.3.8a] on a Godaddy Linux hosting server and it's running slower than dial up. I get an average of 38Mb/s down and 2 up with my premium cable package and it's ONLY the store that is running like mud.

    Any clues on how to get this corrected?

    Switch on "Parse time logging" in Configuration/Logging. This will indicate if it is the database or the actual rendering of the page.

    BTW, I just tried your site and got a blank page. Did you try the error debugger that is available in the downloads section?

    You have nothing on your site to warrant this slowness ...

    First, check in your Zen Cart Admin the Tools ... Server Info ... and see if it shows the Load Averages for your site ... if so, what are they?

    What happens if you switch to the Classic Template?

    Do you have any Add Ons for your site?

    I am suspecting this is a server issue ... GoDaddy is rather notorious for that ...

    Has it always been this slow? Or did it just start?

    Have you made any changes to your server since it was last working well and now?

    I can't even log in because it's so slow... was not like this yesterday and I have done nothing to the server or store in between. HOWEVER... other sites on my server are running fast and furious.

    Not sure how to change skins/templates... when I started customizing (through Admin and FTP) I just changed the logo and BG images and uploaded them back to the same place... so I'm probably tweaking the classic template? i.e. I never created a "kenrichTemplate" directory or anything like that... probably should have.

    Just started being SUPER slow today... was kind of slow yesterday. I'm thinking someone on my shared server has started a BIG site and his hogging bandwidth or something?

    Have you made any changes to your server since it was last working well and now?
    No. I have a premium (shared) Linux hosting account with Godaddy. Perhaps I need to call them. Again, it was fast-ish (or acceptably slow) yesterday. And, other sites on my server are running fine.

    Call GoDaddy ... your site is a dog and there is no excuse for that ... they need to fix whatever is causing the problem ...

    I might encourage you to look into the Certified Hosts as they comprehend the needs of e-commerce sites and understand the need for speed ...

    Well, as you know, the logistics of migrating thirty websites to a new hosting account would be a big drag. I'm on the phone with Godaddy now... they think it might be the database load on my [shared] server but they are running some load tests with their server toys to see exactly what's wrong.

    Also (and I preface this by saying I have nothing against foreign CS teams) but Godaddy ALWAYS has English-as-first-language customer support people, usually in Arizona, and that makes it SO much easier to troubleshoot. They are almost always very friendly and "eager" to help. To me that is worth an occasional server glitch (assuming they solve this!).

    Godaddy (as always) was very helpful. They were having a database issue on my particular server so that was the problem. It's running fine now. Yay :)
