Sync Stock with Distributor's database

Hello,

All my items model number match my distributors model numbers, is there a way I can connect to their database and have my qty update every 12 hrs?

or should i just stick with:

-They also provide me a csv file that has the model number qty etc, this is what I have been using so far to update qty. It would be nice to be able not to worry about it and have a live stock feed.

It depends on your supplier. Contact them and ask them if they offer such as stream or XML export. Most suppliers of any size in today's marketplace will offer something, but every supplier is different, and it is certainly not a single solution fits all.

They gave me my own personalized database login to their database.. how do i go about this connecting to them, i used filezilla and it just shows txt files that has everythings in the warehouse.

The possibilities are endless. It depends on the database, their setup, the table structure, files you are allowed to access, tables you can read........

You would need to create an export routine, which ran through a CRON job once a day. This would then connect to their database, run through the products you stock, and pull in quantity stocks etc. You would need a custom PHP script created to complete this for you.
