I had the same problem. it seems to be a bug with:
admin->configuration->customer details->Customer Shop Status - View Shop and Prices
if this is set to anything other than 0 then you can't see the prices in your admin catalogue.

If it is set to 0 then anyone can also see the prices on your website. I guess you have to choose between the two
