Adding a Free Download Problems

I have the been wrestling with this issue for a couple of days and can't figure it out. I'm using zen cart 1.3.8

If someone could just give me a simple step-by-step on how to add a free download. I keep reading the attributes tutorial, and it's not working for me. I don't even see anywhere to upload the darn file. (I'm trying to offer a free MP3 download with certain products).

What you could do is place a link on the product page allowing your free download.
