Improved order numbers mod - problem

I'm really interested in using this mod to improve order numbers which can be found here:

" The functionality is added by changing places the “ORDER_ID” is printed, and replacing it with the output from an added function “zen_trans_id($raw_date,$order_id)”. The current function will output YYMMDD-SSmmHH-0001. Change the function if desired.

For example a valid order number could be 051121-133304-2122. This number can of course be easily changed to something like: 051121/2122 or any other variation, based on your needs"

(I've actually downloaded this a while back but it doesn't look like the download links are working anymore).

This mod is for version 1.2 and will not work with 1.8. I much prefer my order numbers to be like the one this mod is offering then having to go in and manually change the dates, etc so that it can look like what I can achieve with this mod.

Can anyone give me an idea as to how I can achieve this?

I'm really interested in this mod but It's dated from 2006 :\

I don't know if this will work on PHP 5.X and 1.3.9... Maybe I'll give it a test.

Tested the mod I need to say this will not work on Zen Cart 1.3.9, I adapted the code a bit for the lasted format and nothing... Maybe something is wrong with it

just throwing a +1 and a bump, I'd love to see this mod working in the latest zen cart
