Category image not a link?

Im sure there is an option somewhere but I cant seem to find it. I want to be able to click on my image at the top of the category pages to send me directly to the product imaged. Also need an alt tag for the images. Does anyone know how to do that?

Do you mean the image in the individual category description? That is what you inserted in the category description textarea, so all you need to do is wrap link tags around it with the page destination, like this:

<a href="index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=xx&amp;product_id=yy"><img ... alt="Your Alt Text"></a>

I used to put the images in the top description field but recently have moved it to the correct place. "category images" So now its not clickable because I dont know how to make it clikable.

I had to do this to change the layout properly.

That could be tricky, because the link destination has to be customized for each category and cannot be automagic.
The simplest method might be adding a link with an id to each category description, and style the id to have height and width as appropriate and position: absolute; and locate it over the category image.
