GC delay

Hi,
I'm using Zen Cart 1.3.8a. I noticed that there is a delay of 2/3 days for the GC to appear in the release queue after the order of the status has been changed to processing. Is this normal? is there any way to shorten this period? GC are ideal for last minute presents but if the customer has to wait 3 days to receive it it might as well buy something and get it shipped.

What are you using to accept payments?

Manual credit card processing.

So Kim's point is critical... What would happen if they were released BEFORE payment had been cleared? (And the card was denied).

(And with your payment type, they are released MANUALLY (by YOU) anyway when the order status is changed)

No, the point is: even after I charge the card and change the status to processing, that means that the credit card payment went thru, they still do not appear in the release queue for a few days. I had to issue coupons to customers who were expecting them faster. I prefer manual processing just so I have more control on card verification, so for GC especially of high value we accept only total match (or verify international cards by email exchange). So this delay is true, if it is, how long is it? At least we can put a note in the GC page so the customer doesn't expect it too soon...

The release is not timed... it is (I believe) determined by the change in order status. What if you change status from PROCESSING to DELIVERED?

You can CHANGE the status "trigger" for Gift Certificates by editing ot_gv.

I think as a safety net GV's will never trigger on PENDING - even if your default status = pending.

Override this by giving ot_gv a status of PROCESSING - see what happens...
