Admin/database problems

I recently had a problem with my database and reinstalled the whole thing from a backup. I then had a problem logging into my admin area. After reuploading all my admin folder I got access back but now find that I cannot change most things in the database through the admin area.

The admin is reading the info from the database and I can reset the counter but I can't edit, add or delete products or most other things.

I've looked around this forum but can't seem to find anyone that's had a similar problem. Any suggestions as to what I need to do next?

Everything seems to be fine from the frontend of the store.

Like I said in my earlier post everything at the front end appears fine, it's only when I go into the admin area that I encounter problems.

One thing that will cause that problem is an error when installing the latest security patch. Be sure you copied the files to the admin section, and not the cart section.

Stevesh, you are amazing. I'd forgotten about the security patch and although the files were still there on my reinstall I put them back in again and, so far, it looks like everything is working a treat.
