Shipping Question. Free shipping on some items.

You need to check that you have the correct settings in your Shipping/Packing in your admin area Configuration > Shipping/Packing

review your settings, the default settings shows that items with a weight value of 0 are free post, this is a bit of grey area for me, but by setting the weight on your products you want to free post, i would set the weight to 0 and where you was checking a tickbox for free postage i would leave that on the normal setting

If you only have the Per Unit perweightunit installed and are trying to have Free Shipping products based on Always Free Shipping or 0 weight products, you will have errors on the checkout when these are the only kind of Products in the cart as there isn't a proper shipping module ...

Just add the Free Shipping freeshipper shipping module so that the checkout_shipping has a valid shipping module for when the order has 0 weight or all Always Free Shipping products only in the cart ...

I tried that but if they add any additional items and free shipping is available then they can check free shipping for all products.

Am I missing something?

You need to add the right Free Shipping module, the shipping module FREE SHIPPING! freeshipper will only run if:

1 All Products are marked Always Free Shipping

2 All Products are 0 weight and 0 weight is defined as Free Shipping in the Shipping/Packaging

3 Or, a combination of both

But if there is weight in the cart, as there would be on your Products using the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module, then it will not show ...
