Default Where to find files to copy? So basic, I know but need help....

I have Zen Cart installed and a template installed on my temp url site (by a 3rd party) but now am on my own. Where do I go to work with the files (files like includes/templates etc.) Do I work with them on filezilla? And also how do I copy them to move them to custom template folder. One other question...there is a template_default folder and a classic folder and a folder Premium that has my new template on it...which of these do I use to make the copies onto? As you can tell, I am going to have a hard time...but I have a zen cart book and if I can get past these first few (important) steps....I may be okay! Thanks so much for any help you can give!

You can use Filezilla to download the files to your computer. Save them to an easy-to-find folder dedicated to Zen Cart files. Open the file in a good text editor (NOT Word or MS products - try Notepad++, free from Sourceforge.net), make your changes, save and FTP back to the appropriate place in your /Premium/ folder.

You will want a complete set of your site's files on your computer, in the same folder structure, as a backup and to make changes on.
See the tutorials for lots of information on the template/override system.

Your response REALLY helped. I have figured out how to download to a new folder on my computer...opened in crimson (editor, is that a good one?) then changed...
BUT now I don't know how to get it back to my custom folder on the server. Do you mind helping one more time

    The save option I see:
under FTP I can choose remote save? But it didn't seem to let me get the save to be going to my custom folder?

    Thanks in advance........

Crimson Editor is supposed to be good too. I haven't used it so don't know what its interface looks like.
I expect you need to be connected to the server (remote) before doing a remote save. Filezilla's version is an "Upload" command in the menu when you right-click on the local file ("Download" when you right-click on the remote file).
