    Default english.php in the includes>lang>CUSTOM

Hi, new to zen cart 1.3.8a, i am studying the above file in dreamweaver cs4 and have a few questions regarding some of the code.
    1) line 77 //categories box text in sideboxes/categories.php
    define('BOX_HEADING_CATEGORIES', 'Bead Types');

and this has created a new category for me in the left sidebar. If I wanted to create more new categories would i simply copy and paste the above line of code for each new category?

    2) On line 80 which deals with manufacturers I would like to get rid of this category altogether and tried commenting it out but it didnt disappear. Same goes for Music Genres, Record Companies and Important Links.

    Thanks!

No need to comment out any of the cats in the english.php file - could even be dangerous to some extent.

You can enable / disable these links in Admin > Tools > Layout Boxes Controller

Create new categories: Admin > Catalog > Categories/Products

Getting the manual would be of advantage - also helps the devs to finance their project(s)

Thanks for that, I will definitely look at getting the book. One quick question to which I cant find the answer is what are the terms eof and bof in relation to styling in CSS.

These terms are usually denoting comments only - bof = beginning of file and eof = end of file. No need to worry about these but handy to find code if you want to add / modify code etc

Thanks frank, really appreciate your advice! I have gone into the admin and changed settings in the layout boxes controller, my header is gone and there is also a copy of my header in the sponsors box which i thought i had turned off and now my page is a mess. I would like to start with a clean slate again but I am too scared to reinstall zen cart. I am working on my local computer. Someone else installed WAMP on my windows 7 and then installed zen cart for me, dont know whether you can let me know what files to copy across to get a clean start.

Gee mate - sounds like you do have a messed file system.

Changing the layout of the boxes should not mess up your header for a starter, neither should the header appear anywhere else.

Try to hit the "Reset" button on the bottom of the Layout Boxes Controller page and see what happens.

Failing that I suggest you start with copying just the admin files to your WAMP install - but don't copy the admin/includes/config.php o'wise you will need to change all the settings again within that file in order to connect to your DB.

If you decide to also copy the catalog files then leave the corresponding file /includes/config.php alone as well (same reason).

Hi frank did the reset but the sponsors box is still missing from the Layout Boxes Controller, there is just a black line there between the sideboxes/banner_box.php and the sideboxes/ezpages.php. Is it possible to delete it?

The black line separates RHS boxes from LHS boxes (right and left) - no need to worry about that.

The "Sponsors" box is most likely the box
    sideboxes/banner_box.php
Check the boxes under 'Left/Right Column Status' and see what's off or on.

Good luck, mate, signing off for the day
