I am not sure how much this plays into the speed but your Secure Certificate does not match for your site ...

As each secure page is asking me what to do, as I am not letting it run these pages without asking ... it is most likely hanging because of the incorrect secure certificate for the site ...

I'd try to fix that before going much further ...

Out of curiosity, did you get that on both links I sent you?

Yes ... the first has bad secure certificate and the second a lot of rewrites it appears when going non-secure to secure ... but I did not play with the second one as much ...

Best to fix one at a time ...

Right now, I would focus on the first site, where the secure certificate is not made for the site ...

The first site is just in a temp spot so the cert doesn't match up... the second site is because there are a few images that are insecure...

I did disable SSL on the first site but it was still slow

Try disabling it again on the first site so I can test this without the Secure Certificate playing into it ...

If I mouse over the links on the first site for My Account and Checkout etc. I do not see anything about the secure page ...

But ... if I click the links it is trying to go to the secure page ...

Must be rewrites or something on both sites as both have this same behavior where mousing over a link that should be secure displays non-secure URL but clicking it goes or tries to go secure ...

The second site has a problem with hard coded or incorrectly coded images that are showing that are not secure and throwing errors ...

FireFox and the Web Tools and FireBug are very handy for finding and fixing issues ...
