Losing all configuration from the "layout boxes controller" when changing templates

Hi,

I have installed 1.38 successfully and in addition have bought and successfully installed a new template (using the override system).

I now want to create my own custom variation of the new template I bought but I don't want to mess around with those new template files. I have therefore created another new override folder and duplicated the template files I bought wherever they exist.

The problem I am having is that when I go to "template selector" and choose to switch to my own new custom template, I lose all configuration from the "layout boxes controller" section. This in turn causes my navigation to disappear. I was under the impression that switching between templates in the "template selector" shouldn't cause any of your other settings to change? I have ensured that all my folder names are spelt correctly, I have also edited template_info.php correctly.

Any help would be appreciated.

just to add, that when i use "template selector" to switch to my own custom template, everything switches over correctly except for the fact that I lose my settings in "layout boxes controller" and my navigation refuses to display.

I have just dumped the entire database and found that the table "layout_boxes" saves your settings with the specific name of your override template name.

So the settings of "layout_box_controller" need to be reentered each time you create a new override template. These settings are reset when you switch for the first time to your new template.


Am I correct here? or did I miss something when I set up my own custom template?

Those settings need to be set at least *once* for each new template you add, yes.

These settings are reset when you switch for the first time to your new template.

The settings for *THAT* new template will need to be set, yes.
But the master settings and all settings for *other* templates will *NOT* be affected when changing templates.
