Hello,

I am just setting up my first Zen-Cart...

We ship products that have odd sizes and weights. We ship all of our products by UPS. As an example, many of our boxes are 88" long x 4" wide x 4" tall and weight 5 lbs..We may pack smaller items in the same box and therefore is difficult to estimate shipping due to the odd box sizes and the unknown of consolidation of products. We normally just tell the customer that shipping/handling fees will be added at the time of shipment.

What I would like to use the UPS module, but have it so it does not actually calculate the shipping cost. Rather, have the UPS shipping options that I have selectied i.e. Next Day, 2nd Day, Ground. And below this selection display a statement something like:
"In order to be most effecient and accurate, actual shipping and handling fees are added at time of shipment. If you would like an estimate, please call us Toll Free at (800) 660-xxxx"

Worst case, I would just like a shipping module that would allow me to display this statement all the way through the order process.

Any ideas or modules that already exist?

Really?? All of these viewers and programmers and no advice?

I can not be the only one who wants the ability for a customer to select a shipping method, but allow me to do the shipping costs "Off-Line"....Just state a simple message like:

"For accuracy, shipping/handling Fees will be added to your order total at time of shipping."

Any advice would be very helpful..

It looks like cloning a Shipping module is pretty easy...I have not attempted it yet...

I am looking to clone the UPS shipping module, remove all calculations and simply replace it with a note that states something like:

"For accuracy and efficiency, shipping/handling fees will be added to your order after packing the products. If you would like an estimate of shipping/handling fees, please give us a call Toll Free (800) 660-6975."

We would then prepare the order, consolidate all products (large and small) into the appropriate box(s) and then add the shipping fees and process off-line...

I have not looked at the modules yet...I think that I might get stuck...Are you aware of anyone that can knock this one off for me?

Clone say flatrate title it and name it ups replacing your ups module

I agree.....But, I would still like the ability for the customer to choose from "UPS Ground, UPS 2nd Day, UPS 3rd day"..

Therefore, I think I would have to start with the UPS module and clone it to something like "UPS Note" Then remove all calculations and replace it with the note.....

Is it possible to clone the UPS module, remove all of the calculations/lookups and place the note??

Try it - renaming the original on you server to reserve it...
I think there will be additional edits to stop the estimator

I gave this a shot..I got it to come up on the Shipping Modules list OK...But then I go to "install" it and it comes up with the following...

I can not find this 'MODULE_SHIPPING_UPS_STATUS' in either of the ups.php files...It must be in the main code somewhere?? Any ideas?

I decided to try to modify the FlatRate shipping module...I made a copy and renamed the files...Everything looks pretty good now...It shows my note, etc...But when continue onto Step 2 in the checkout process, I get only a blank white page..no errors or anything...Any ideas??
