Default help with drain on server

Hi, Not sure if anyone can help but i have a serious issue. I have a site that is a zencart site. I am having trouble. recently had an extreme surge in resource usage which caused server instability and my site keeps getting disabled because the of the large resource pull on the server.

I have implemented simple cache module and upgraded to 1.3.8a [Patched]. I have blocked an IP that was visiting the site alot.

Yet this has not fixed the issue. What else could i do to help?

Can anyone shed anylight on this. please.

Find another host that has high performance servers for zencart

Will not be $1.50 a month and unlimited everything
But weigh that against not being online

thanks Kobra for your reply, but this isnt really what i want to do. I have 80 sites with this host and have just moved from a shared server to a vps optimised. So i am reluctant to move again. Already paying double what i was paying before.

I was hoping that there maybe another solution. I have another zencart on this server, i will admit it does not have as many products, but doesnt seen to have any issues with that one.

if anyone is interested the problem site is www.djb.co.nz

... that doesn't appear to be a Zen Cart shop

As a VPS - this is most likely a default LAMP configuration
I also suppose that you have root access
There are many .cnf files that one can "TUNE" to optimize for database intensive operations
This forum is not the venue for server setup/tweaking but there are many out there

Thanks for your reply. I was just trying to find out whether it is a server issue or a zencart issue. I will go back to the server and discuss this more with them.

If anyone else has anymore suggestions i am still open to them. thanks.

If they are not familiar with ZenCart they will probably "freak" at the number of querries - -
They need to know that these are well indexed tables - as much as can be and that there are servers that can run ZenCart very quickly
On a VPS they will likely try to up sell you to additional resources

You are probably right. They did ask me if i wanted a dedicated server. I have only 80 small sites and only fill the server by a third. financially it is not viable to upgrade to dedicated. I have found that moving from shared to vps a little better in the sense of control etc. speed a bit better.
