Upload associated with order?

ETA - should have titled this "Upload associated with each individual item in cart"

I've been searching around but I could find any detailed information with regards to the exact details of how this might work. I'm starting a photo lab that caters to professional photographers. The product of course is prints. With each product they put in their shopping cart there needs to be a file associated with that product. The order process would be something like this:

User clicks a button to order a print. The options appear which are fairly straight forward...

Size of print
Paper type
full bleed or with margins
Quantity of prints.

Each of these options would impact the price. Once they click "add to cart" the cart needs to ask them to upload a file associated with the print.

Is something like this possible with Zen Cart?

Still looking for this... I did a search for attribute function but I'm coming up with nothing. Also searched the add ons for attribute function and file upload but couldn't find anything relevant.

Hi kobra. I visited the link and am very interested in how you managed to make the file-upload an optional attribute?

I am currently building a page having a file-upload attribute which is not a required item and therefore may be kept blank if customer does not want to submit a file. However I always get a error message "Please select a file to upload" and cannot add the product to cart if I click the add-to-cart button while keeping the attribute blank.

Any hint from you is to be appreciated

Do you know what hica? I am trying to do the exact opposite from you as I am getting frustrated that despite setting file upload to be a required function my customers can just breeze past this stage without uploading file and without getting any errors. I am using 1.3.8a all patched up and would love to know how to make file upload required.

Actually I found the answer here to my own question - if it helps anybody else:

Mind you the fact remains that as far as I can see the 'required' feature does not work for file uploads and therefore all uploads are in effect 'not required' even if seemingly set as 'required' in attributes controller. So how you have managed to get the error message is weird hica. Perhaps the post I mention above will help you 'reverse engineer' to solve your issue.
