Replace alphanumeric sort drop down, to price high low drop box

Dear All,

I am trying to change the sorting filter on seach results from a alphanumeric filter to a price high - low / low - high filter.

In new product, featured prodcuts etc, they all have a proper filter to sort product. alphanumeric filter just don't really make sense.

I have been playing with the code for a bit but all unsuccessful and made a mess, therefore I will not mention it in detail here as it will not benifit anyone and I have now restored back.

Has anyone out there change the code and make it work. I would really appriciate if you could shine me some light which way to go, many many thanks for your help.
