    Default Getting Newsletter Subscribers Time Out

    Hi,

    I am running v1.3.8. Once I have created the newsletter and press send, where Zen Cart searches the entire database to give me the option of who I want to send this to (i.e. newsletter sunscribers, etc.) there is a huge length of time (more than 10min), and then an eventual time out, without getting this information. ( I found if I refresh this page after time out, the information then appears and I can proceed.)

    I am on a quality, dedicated server with Host Gator, and my total customer database is more than 6000. I have contacted my host and they have increased the timeout time in Apache, but over the last year, I have had to have this timeout limit increased 3 times now. Since I am only wanting the Newsletter Subscribers is there a better way to do this? I usually use the "Export Email Addresses" add-on from Dr.Byte, and then send through Groupmail.

    Does anyone have any thoughts as to how to either speed up the process, or have any other suggestions?

    Hi,

    When upgrading to 1.3.9d (this was my first upgrades, prior ones done by a contracted person) I have resolved this problem. It was related to .DS-Store files placed in our store. They are part of an add on program that the contracted person had installed for a debugging, and then never removed. Since I removed these files when doing the upgrade (comparing the old 1.3.8a to 1.3.9d and seeing the differing files) I have had no problems. This feature works within seconds, now.

    Just thought I'd post this in case someone else ran into the same problem.

    Actually, it wasn't the DS Store files, the database index for this was fixed in 1.3.9 =-)
