Adding additional shipping to certain items

I have a flat rate of $9.99 for all orders. A few of the items i sell are bulky and akward and require additional charge for shipping. How can i set this up? Just to add +$10 shipping to Item_X

Or if this is not possible, i can add $10 to the price, but is there a way to show the base price with additional $10 for shipping?

What shipping module(s) are you currently using?

What makes these Products that need an extra charge unique?

If you were using something like Flat Rate flat shipping module for the $9.99 shipping charge regardless of what is ordered ... could you customize that in some way such as use the weight field to have a 10 for $10 more and then add all the weight plus the $9.99 for the Flat Rate flat shipping module?

To do something like this, you would need to adjust the Maximum Weight to something like 5000 and the Tare Rates to 0:0 so that it is not adjusting the weight in the calculation ...
