    Default CURL issue with hoster.

my ZenCart application is being hosted by Lime Domains.

I contacted their support about getting CURL installed. They said they do not support that feature. now from what I can tell CURL is important.

Is it possible to manually install CURL from and FTP client? or what do I need to have to be able to install it? Instructions?

Do I need it? I've looked and seen many CURL issues especially when upgrading, but I couldn't find any directly related to hosting.

    plz help,
    John

Best advice? Find another host. If they don't support Curl , I'd be suspecting they won't support other ecommerce functionality.
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Curl plays a major role when configuring an online application that deals with sensitive and secure data. If your host does not support it then you are risking to install your zencart with host who does not support secure protocols. As a matter of fact, zencart installation wont progresss if curl is not available.. So best advise as mentioned earlier is find a host that is compatible with zencart requirements.

    That is an incorrect statement.

Lime only enables cURL on their premium accounts, and by special request... but they are not properly geared for eCommerce...

I had to move a client off Lime because they just don't seem to understand eCommerce very well.

Don't waste your time with them. If possible, get a refund (unless you are using one of their Free Options).

eCommerce is a serious business, and hosts must have the expertise and knowledge of how their servers must be set up to accommodate it.

Cheap Hosting is invariably Nasty Hosting. Look in the Certified Hosts link (above) and make an intelligent selection.
