    help question New law/regulation?

I want to setup a new Zen Cart online store for my business. I had done this before for a couple of clients, but this time a friend of mine told me there is a new US law or regulation for sites that charge money online to their customers.

    Is that true?

If so, where can I find more info on this?

    Thank you very much!

Credit card companies are going to require as of the beginning of July that sites that handle credit card info directly be "PA-DSS compliant". That translates to impossible hurdles for an individual, but I understand that the Zen Cart developers are working on making ZC compliant in time.

I don't believe it is going to apply to people who go to an offsite processor for payment, like standard Paypal. Google for more complete information.

Actually the correct term is PCI-DSS compliant, in relation to merchants. (Only payment applications have to be PA-DSS compliant)

Although my servers are PCI Compliant I have chosen to stop processing credit cards through a gateway due to the crazy fees and only process through PayPal now.

No monthly gateway fees, no ***** Chargeback fees if someone where to do a chargeback, now if you go for PayPal Pro Payments you will have those charges.
