Default Maintaining/ Creating a new Session from static pages ZenID

I have some static pages which are not generated from within ZenCart. The user can navigate to and from these pages at any time even when the user has items in his/ her shopping cart. How can I continue an existing session or create a new one so that the user does not loose the contents of the shopping cart?

Strangely the contents of the shopping cart are not lost when the user navigates away from the page using a static link, I am not sure why this happens but I want to play it safe.

Why not just recreate these static pages using your Zen Cart? You can use permanent redirects to maintain your links and page rank.

The session information is dynamic and it expires in 24 minutes - go to you statci page and then sit there for a while - you will loose the session.

Thanks, I was apprehensive about using the redirect as I was not sure about it's effect on page rank. Can I dynamically create or continue the existing ZenID ?

Static pages are just that: static. Disconnected from Zen Cart. So, unless you change your static pages to be all PHP-based and custom code them to do various Zen Cart things, they'll not be connected to Zen Cart. And, if you're going to go to all *that* trouble, you're best to do as Kim suggested and simply make them pages *in* Zen Cart.
You can tell your site to redirect incoming clicks to the new pages by setting up appropriate rewrite rules in your hosting configuration, thus allaying your fears about page rank.

Can I dynamically create or continue the existing ZenID ?
Additionally, One should NOT use a zenID for any link...
ZenCart dynamically creates these so you do not need to
