Add a product description deletes category description

I've got a strange problem which I can't seem to fathom.

I have main categories such as
Mild, Medium, Hot

Then I had subcategories such as
Anaheim, Jalapeno etc


If the subcategory is blank then the description is displayed.
However if I add a product to the subcategory it removed the description.

How do i get round this?

I'd like to put all the details in the subcategory description as i will have lots of products for each category and don't want the same information coming up again and again.

How do I add a product to a subcategory but keep the category description showing?

The only ones I've changed are Anaheim, Ancho, Black Hungarian and Calabrese. I don't want to keep repeating the same information for each product. We are going to have different pot sizes.

All of the other ones, it shows the category (variety) description but where I've added a product name, it removes this description.
