Default Page cannot be found. (HTTP 400 Bad Request) on downloads

I'm getting the green light on the download attribute.

(Note: I haven't moved to secure level yet, just wanted to be successful with original setup first, then move per FAQ on secure relocation of download folder.)

My test free order gets message: "Page cannot be found. This error (HTTP 400 Bad Request) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the web server, but the webpage could not be found because of a problem with the address."

I didn't edit the configure.php files because I have the files in the original zen/download directory. Am I missing something?

Again I haven't edited any php file, just stuck with the original install, the file shows as green light in admin. I've read through multiple posts. Am I missing a step?

Still green lights on files. Ready to try this one again. Permissions on pub 777, permissions tried multiple ways on download folder. Customer clicks on download link and is taken to error page as above. GZip is off. Any ideas?

I'm set to download by redirect on linux server.

customer issue Re: Page cannot be found. (HTTP 400 Bad Request) on downloads

Trying to follow protocol and staying on this thread - still getting 400 error. Can someone please contact me to assist with troubleshooting this? I've already searched hundreds of posts, checked config files in admin/includes and includes. Linux server, set up to download by redirect, GZip off, pub folder 777, download folder 777, downloads are set up as .zip files instad of pdf. GREEN LIGHT is ON and attribute is added, customer can see download link. Customer clicks the link which takes them to a 400 error page.

Should I be able to see the stub in the pub folder? Are the files even being created? Seems like multitudes of people don't have any difficulty with their downloads... does anyone know of anywhere else to look? I've searched:

Answer from my hosting company "On our platform, we do support symlinks. If you wish to create a Symlink, then you need to create it from your end as we do not support for coding and scripting."

I must be missing something, it shouldn't be this hard! Would someone please work with me?

With those setting it allows the download to process just fine. I had been using the redirect since I'm on a Linux server. Is it OK to keep like it is now, or was this just to test?

With Redirect=False and Streaming=True, you're not giving people direct URLs to download your files, so they can't share download links with friends.
With both set to false, the links can be shared.
This is all discussed in the FAQ on the topic: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=292

You probably still want to relocate or rename your /download/ folder for security reasons.
