Reservation Status

Hi,


I would like my ZenCart to show RESERVED status icon next to product in list after successful ordring process.

The thing is that I would like to give a customer a 1 week time period to send money and if till that time money won't be sent, the product will be back on stock.

I honestly tried a lot and I have no idea how to make it.

Do you only carry 1 of each product or multiple quantities?

Zen Cart tracks quantity sold just by lowering the quantity ... you could add a new field for how many are sold for this or two fields for sold for real and the difference between the two or some sort of indicator that this isn't a final sale ...

I am not sure what would work best for you on this without more information ...

Hi,

Yes, each product is unique and is only 1 in quantity.

There is also a problem with putting a product into a Shopping Cart. During shopping process a customer may put for example 3 the same products even there is only one and even order the number of products that aren't in stock.

The other problem is that I would like to have 1 week period for a customer after success of ordering process. During that time I don't want ordered products to dissapear from STOCK, but to appear with a RESERVATION STATUS, so the other customers may look at them and check if somebody will change his mind.

The products are jewelry so that kind of ordering process is a kind practical, but.. I really don't know how manage that problem.

I ask for advise.

You could set the products up to be a maximum of 1 ... then I would customize the code not to show maximum of 1 as you only allow 1 and have 1 ...

Next, you could change the Sold Out to Sale Pending ... or some other word choice that would work for you ...

Or ... you could have the Product switched to Call for Price but change the image and text to read Sale Pending or what have you ... as Call for Price cannot be purchased ...

Later when you get the money in, you can just remove the Call for Price and leave it as Sold Out to "show off" what everyone missed out on gettting ...

It would take some customization for any of these scenarios ... but I think they could be done to suit your needs ...

Sorry for delay. I was asking if I can make somehow the RESERVATION status of my prodacts.

Regarding your answer I would like to ask about:

does it mean that if a customer will buy a product that is set to maximum 1, somebody else can not buy that product again?

I have already found that I can do it through CALL FOR PRICE icon, but in that case does it mean, that product price dissapear? And what about the defined in code link of that CALL FOR PRICE button?

What do you mean by customizing the code "not to show maximum of 1 as you only allow 1 and have 1 ..." ?

I want to make the exact same thing.

Only diff is, i have multiple products.

All orders are set to "pending" status in admin section until payment has been received.

Is it possible to set the "reservation" status of product based on the fact that product is in the order group that's marked "pending" ?
