    Default The Checkout Process

Hello. I made my own Zencart website several years ago. It worked really well and I was very pleased with the end results. Now I'm considering another Zencart, but I have one question:

How painful is the default checkout process? Do visitors still have to 'sign up' (create a password and a profile) just to purchase a single item? Does the most recent version of Zencart have anything like a 'single-page' checkout process? Preferably without forcing each guest to make a profile?

    Thanks for your help.

In Zen Cart v1.3 the default checkout does still require the customer to create an account. That may change in future versions.
Everything else in checkout is information you WILL need to collect from the customer ANYWAY, so you are free to alter the wording of the content on the pages if you don't like the way it's presented.

There are some addons that have met with mixed degrees of success in altering the presentation of the content depending on the individual storeowner's need.

Thanks for your quick reply. I understand that I will need the shipping address and name and stuff - but it seems like most websites don't actually require people to create an account (complete with a password) these days. But that's just my opinion. I will check back for future version of Zencart. But for now, I will try something else.

There is a mod called Checkout Without Account, it will give the customers the choice of creating account or not. If the customer choose to checkout without account you will still be able to see their email address.

Thanks! Just a few novice questions... If I choose add to cart for the $25 does that mean they will install it in my Zen cart or what is the difference between that and the free download?

Those are questions you should be asking OVER THERE, on THEIR website.
Commercial addons are NOT supported on the Zen Cart website. You need to get your support from whomever you pay for the addon.
