Downloading files with edited permissions

I've edited permissions for files and folders while still on my web server. When I now download them to my local computer, will those same edited files and folders maintain the edits I made to them while still on the web server?

Is there any expertise in this area? I'm just asking if by downloading files and folders, will they lose their permission edits?

Usually one downloads from a Linux OS to a win OS so the permission systems of both do not match

WOW ! I just wasted a lot of time. I can't seem to change the permissions for files and folders on my local computer. What would you suggest? Keep in mind that in Windows XP the preference dialogue doesn't display the security tab where you'd think it should be.

I know I'm not the only person with an XP computer who has had to salve the problem concerning permissions editing. Windows XP doesn't allow it and I've downloaded as many editors as I could find, but they don't edit in the way I need. What is the KNOWN solution for changing permissions for an XP system ??

The above link takes you to "Attributes Canger". It's a freeware permissions editor that is most convenient for your local computer. Just right click on any file or folder and select "Change Attributes..." from your context menu. What could be simpler?
