Get A Free Gift With Purchase

If I am posting in the wrong forum, I am sorry...I am just not sure where my question should be posted.

I would like to offer a free gift with purchase and all them to choose the gift from the free gift section. Hopefully both can be in the cart during checkout. Not sure if this could be done.

So no matter what they purchase they would be directed to the free gift section. Both items would be in the shopping cart.

Example, Jane Doe purchased a pair of shoes and then she is directed to the free gift section. She then chooses her free gift and then proceeds to checkout.

I hope that makes sense. I am not sure how to do this.
