Price Sorter help & advise with XML feeds please

Hi,

I'm not a web designer only a salesman but have some guys who sort of look after my site (when it suites) but here are some items I really need sorting out.

Zen cart version 1.3.8.a

Currently my website every morning at 4am grabs an xml feed from a supplier and updates our website.

The trouble is everyday when i get to work I have to remember to go into the tools, storemanager option and click ' Update all products price sorter' so that customers can sort by prices.

I have asked the guys who configured our site whether this can be done automatically but they say it cannot.

Surely I havnt got to do this every day have I?

With regards the xml feed apparently the distributor has a code number in every item in the feed representing the items status.
They have told me that anything above 40 needs to be filtered out and not shown on the site as its discontinued stock or ex demo, damaged etc.
Now the guys who did my site havnt come up with an answer to this is in months and due to this I believe I'm loosing business.
As I get orders for items I cannot sell and unfortunately have to let the customer down.

Is there an answer to this problem?
