Only free shipping

I'm running 1.3.8a. I have a couple of shipping modules installed - zone table rate, store pickup, staticlist delivery, and free shipping. I have products which are virtual but I want the purchasers address so I've not clicked on the product is virtual button (but maybe I should?). I have specified the product to be always free shipping. I've indicated a 0 weight (for what its worth). When someone checks out they have a choice of shipping - Free or, say table rate (depending where they are). OK< so it's a no brainer for someone to choose FREE over paying for something they don't need but is there a way I can show only free shipping when an item is free shipping? Checked these forums and couldn't see anything - if it's been covered please point me to the link.

Make sure that you have installed the FREE SHIPPING! freeshipper shipping module installed to manage the checkout when all Products in the cart are Always Free Shipping and/or 0 weight products ...

I've installed this module but the alternative shipping still shows. I can't see anything which defaults to this if all items are free shipping.

Give us a hint ... what Product is suppose to be Free Shipping?

I'm having the opposite problem- I want to enable free shipping for US customers only, and display other shipping options for international customers. However, if I enable free shipping for the US, international customers get a message saying that shipping is not available for their region. Any ideas? Thank you.

I figured out that I can get around this problem by using the free shipping options module instead. However, can I tie that module to only certain categories? There are certain products for which I won't offer free shipping, despite being the same weight as other products for which I will provide free shipping (do to promotions and the like).
