Canadian Shipping/GST Question

This is my first store so I'm still learning. We're using version 1.3.8a patched to 1.3.8, no addons installed that weren't already part of the installation.

After fiddling around a bit and checking the forum/FAQs/Tutorials I'm still not sure how to set up my particular shipping/tax situation.

The store is in Canada and sells only to Canadians.

Some products have GST applied, some don't.

GST is always charged on the shipping cost.

The shipping is calculated based on whether the product is shipped within Ontario (a province) or not, as follows:

WITHIN ONTARIO:

$50 or less, $8.00 shipping plus GST = $8.40
$51.00-$300.00, $12.00 shipping plus GST = $12.60
$301.00 or more, $15.00 shipping plus GST = $15.75

OUTSIDE OF ONTARIO

$50 or less, $16.00 shipping plus GST = $16.80
$51.00-$300.00, $20.00 shipping plus GST = $21.00
$301.00 or more, $30.00 shipping plus GST = $31.50

I've set things up exactly as explained in this tutorial for setting up Canadian tax classes and rates:

But I'm stumped as to which shipping module I need to use and how to set up for rates depending on whether the shipping is inside or outside Ontario.

Can the zones method be used with provinces or states?

Any ideas?

You will need an additional mod to set this up. There used to be one called MZMT that worked perfectly, but it was designed for Zen-Cart v1.2. I have it working on a 1.3.5 store, but not sure how it would do on 1.3.8. There is one in the forum that sounds like it might do the same thing though:

I haven't tried that one so I'm not 100% sure it will do what you want, but it sounds like it :)
