Reduced Shipping cost option for only one item

I'm trying to figure out how to setup my cart so that when you buy product A you get to choose between our standard $7.50 flat rate shipping or a reduced rate of $2.50 for buying that product (in any quantity), but have it setup so if a customer where to order Product A and Product B, the cart would default them to the standard rate of $7.50 because Product B is in the cart.


Any help would be appreciated.

Clone Flat Rate flat shipping module and customize it to only show if the whole cart contains Product A and set the Rate to 2.50 ...

Do a search on:
clone flat
clone item

and that should show you how to clone a shipping module ...

Once you have cloned it and it is functional, then we can look at customizing it further using a function from the shopping_cart class for something like:

global $cart;
$chk_product_a = $_SESSION['cart']->in_cart_check('products_id','XX');

and then compare it to the total items in the cart to see if they are equal ...
