Side boxes Disappear when installing a template

I have done this twice now. Rebuilt the site from scratch after the first time. Used a different template each time.

After installing a template the side boxes have disappeared. Has anyone run across this before??

Just trying to get my head around customisation but this is a bit of a show stopper for me.

Ok to answer my own question. You need to use the Layout Boxes Controller to turn the sideboxes back on. They all turn off when changing templates.
