having major problems

New to zen cart, haven't been able to do anything with the store. Having problems with uploading a previous mysql database and also having problems with uploading templates. The install was done using simple scripts via hostmonster. If anyone can help, it will allow me to sleep, lol.

Not sure what your problem is because you say you are NEW to ZC, but then you say you were having trouble with a previous mySQL database...

Where does this "previous" database come from?

The previous database came from last admin, used the database for a calendar and for the zen cart. unable to upload, get errors. For the problems. Can't seem to do anything in zen cart. Simple tasks like changing the template, seem to be elusive. I have uploaded the templates to the /includes/templates folder. When I open the program, they are not listed in the table list.

Depends on the template and its source, but most have the folders and files set up so that you upload the 'includes' folder to the root of your site, and all the folders and files inside will fall where they need to be. Then the new template name will appear in Admin - Tools - Template Selection.

That is where the files were downloaded, the templates don't show in the admin window. Is there more to it?

No. If done correctly, there will be a folder named (for example) includes/templates/NEW_TEMPLATE, and in that folder there will be a file named template_info.php. Zencart looks for that file and adds the template name specified therein to the dropdown in the template selector.

If you aren't seeing the new template in admin, that file isn't where it needs to be, or isn't complete.

What template is it, and where did you get it?
