OK, I've a difficult and complicated question to ask. I really don't know how to phrase it, so I am hoping a Zen-Cart expert can help decipher my message and point me in the right direction. :-)
Currently I am using Zone shipping for three different zones:
(USA, Canada, everywhere else)
Through my store, I sell both CDs and vinyl record albums.
I set the weight per unit based on how heavy the item is combined with it's shipping carton.
The problem is this: say for instance I have set a weight of 2 pounds on 1 vinyl record (this weight includes the weight of the shipping box as well). When a customer (from say the USA) checks out with one vinyl record, the shipping total would be about $6.80.
Now if the same customer bought a second vinyl record, the order weight would increase to 4 pounds and his new shipping total would be around $9. However, that is obviously too high since I would be shipping both records in the same box and shipping them would be much less that $9.
So I guess here's my question: How do I set 1 time order fees for each zone, based on what item (and how many) has been selected by the customer? I want the weight of each order to include the box it ships in, but I do not want each unit to have to represent itself and a box in weight since it makes the postage too high for the customer.
