Newsletter Subscribers Mod

Hi,

I'm trying to install the newsletter subscribe mod. I did steps 1-3, but I"m confused for #4 which says:

"4. Prior to copying the "includes" folder, open includes/templates
and rename the "YOUR_TEMPLATE" subdirectory to the name of the
template you are using."

How do I do this? I don't have a subdirectory called "YOUR_TEMPLATE", I only see a "classic" folder and a "template default" folder??

"YOUR_TEMPLATE" sub-directory does NOT exist....you must create a new template, in which this refers to. In this forum, we use that to tell you that if you have a custom template installed, to CHANGE the name of "YOUR_TEMPLATE" to the name of your template, and also if you don't have a custom template and you're making modifications, then you SHOULD create a custom template folder for every modification you make. Just a suggestion.........but you should REALLY read the tutorials. This will give you a whole new meaning to "YOUR_TEMPLATE".

Well, I just followed the instructions to the letter installing this mod. But NOW, http://classicreissues.com/store/ - this totally screwed up my page layout. What the...??

Well I must say I am not pleased at all with this mod. It leaves behind a trail of damage that is seemingly irreversible without a LOT of recoding files back to normal. I am pretty pi$$ed off right now.

Vito, sorry to hear about your bad luck. Maybe it was just a file not uploaded or corrupted? You should ALWAYS test modules on a local test server like Wamp or Xampp. This keeps you from loosing valuable work and information on your live site. And you should ALWAYS back up before doing ANY changes to your live site, even if they worked with "Flying colors" on your test server.

Yeah, lesson learned for sure. I ended up having to scrap EVERYTHING by uninstalling ZC via fantastico, and starting over.

I do hope that this was a lesson learned, and you downloaded, uploaded, and installed 1.3.9b........manually, this time.

Funny that you say that. That is in fact what I tried to do. Over the years, I have installed dozens of scripts manually, so this should be a piece of cake. The installation went smoothly, but then when I tried to login to Admin, it would not let me in. The page just kept staying on the login page. After much time trying to solve that, in frustration, I deleted all and went the fantastico route again.

I must seriously need some sleep. I can't believe I have so much trouble installing a script. It's not like this is my first time...
