how to add php coding to the 'blank sidebox' addon?

i can't figure out how to add php coding in to the 'blank sidebox' add-on.

in particular in the file tpl_blank_sidebox.php in line:

$content .= '<p>You can include text, links, images, HTML markup and even PHP code</p>';

i am trying to add php coding in between the quote signs like it says in the comments.. but i can't get it to work.. anyone done this successfully?

i feel a bit foolish but i'm not very good with php.. i can usually figure things out based on sample coding as i've been a programmer for 30 years.... but what you mean by inside php tags.. do mean the <?php ?> tags? here is the coding i used which didn't work..

$content .= '<?php include(tpl_text_link_ads.php); ?> and here is the php code that is in tpl_text_link_ads.php..
