Admin place order - 500 error with large orders

Hello,

I am running version 1.38a and have been up and running for over two years on 1and1.com. When I place orders from admin for my customers (some phone their orders in) I am finding that I can place smaller orders successfully but larger more complex orders are giving me a 500 Internal Server Error when I try to go to checkout.

How do you diagnose Internal Server Errors and/or what utility do you use to help diagnose your errors?

Update-

Four hours on the phone with tech support for 1and1 and they are telling me that it is their issue and definitely not mine. The gentleman told me that he has no idea how to fix it and would like to to speak to Zen Cart to see how they can resolve the issue. Apparently they are not fast enough is what I could get out of him.

How do you contact "Zen Cart"?

Is there a better hosting site? One that is faster and won't throw fatal errors when more than 32 items are added to my cart?

I am trying to find that mod's official support thread.. but so far i have not found one! Do you know if it has one?
i need something like this on my site, along with edit orders and Admin notes advanced. i just like to have a good read of a mods support thread before i install so i can have an idea of what problems can occur etc.

for a mod that's been downloaded 8000+ times.. im narf having a bugger of a time finding forum info on it

The problem I am having is NOT caused by this mod. I have used the mod successfully and I love it. My problem is with my hosting company. Just wanted to clarify...the mod, for me, works great.
