Default UPS shipping calculations too low

The UPS shipping module is mis-calculating for expedited services. When a customer chooses 2 day air or next day we loose a lot of money. One example today is a customer who payed $47.59 for his overnight shipping and we are charged $64.07. Charges for normal UPS is working pretty good after making adjustments over the years.

The site's running Zen Cart 1.3.8a upgraded from I don't know what, at least 1.3.7 but the site's been in operation for years so probably an earlier version. No add ons. Customization: template only. I have removed and reinstalled the UPS module already.

Is there a way that we can adjust UPS shipping charges for expedited shipments? Is there an update or change to the UPS module since 1.3.8a?

    Suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    What was the:
    Ship From:

    Ship To:

    Order Weight:

where this did not calculate correctly?

What are your settings in the UPS shipping module?

three main areas I would look at is
    modules>shipping>ups>tax basis

    and

    configuration>shipping packaging

    and

    catalog > product > weight

Tax basis made me tear my hair out for awhile though. generally though the prices are consistent with what is on the ups server at the moment of ordering as it is linked, the differences come in your weight, and your tax basis above all but if you are under weighing your product it could easily account for the cost difference.

Just got done with a lot of work on a zencartish project and what i can tell you is that the built in ups shipping mod is build on the older ups api.

What is the Ship To Address?

What is the weight of the order?

I thought I had selected the option for email notifications on responses. But I must not have. I just found my thread again today.

    Shipped from Englewood, FL 34223
Shipped to West Deptford, NJ 08210

Shipping method: United Parcel Service (Next Day Air)

Weight of goods shipped: 1.75 lbs
Dimensions: I don't know. I didn't pack the box and we generally use recycled & reclaimed boxes so there's no telling. If UPS used dimensions in their calculations this is likely the cause of the discrepancy.

    The module calculated $47.59
    The actual cost was $64.07

The cost for non-expedited service (ground, standard) is generally pretty close, within a dollar or two.

    UPS module settings
    ----------------------------
    United Parcel Service

    Enable UPS Shipping: True

    UPS Pickup Method: RDP

    UPS Packaging?: CP

    Residential Delivery?: RES

    Handling Fee: .50

    Tax Class: Taxable Goods

    Tax Basis: Store

    Shipping Zone: --none--

    Sort order of display: 1

Shipping Methods: 1DA, 1DP, 2DA, 3DS, GND, STD, XPR, XDM, XPD

    -------------------------------------------

In Configuration > Shipping/Packaging, we have:

Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight 0:0
    Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight 0:0

    Thanks,
