Module for Adding Attributes on Product Page

Not sure how to word this but is there a module that allows me to add an attribute to the product on the same page in admin where I add all of the product info? This would be so much easier than having to add attributes after I add the products in an entirely different section in the admin panel.

Short answer... no.

However, I was party to a discussion about 3 years ago where this concept was examined. It was decided that the work and cost involved did not justify what was described as being technically removing "two mouse clicks".

Funny!! Just being "2 mouse clicks" is so far from the truth.

1.) Select and Click "Display Product"
2.) Attribute Name Manager
3.) Attribute value manager
4.) Attributes Controller
5.) Locate appropriate attribute amongst what could be a lot

AND THEN

6.) Update sort


If you have 100's of products or even 50...this is a TON of work. In additon to that, teaching a client how to do this when they want to take over their own website isn't easy adn they find it extremely overwhelming. Next time I have a client with a ton of products and attributes, I think I may look for another shopping cart until they create a module for this.

ZC is Opensource. If you want this function then you are perfectly free to develop it.

You seem to be suggesting that the devs have an obligation to provide customized functionality.

Um no...that's not what was said at all. I simply replied to the response I received from you ("what was described as being technically removing "two mouse clicks".") and pointed out it was more that "2 clicks". Let's try and use this forum for solutions and not responses that offer nothing to the discussion.

In addition to that, I did't say "they" other than referring to my clients.

OK.. here's a more constructive suggestion...

I find that using the COPY feature is often faster, because it is easier to delete unwanted attributes from a product than to add them (which as you say is tedious when the dropdowns in attribute controller have a LOT of options).
