Adding and Removing Side Boxes

Can I add a side box for manufacturers? Can I remove sponsers? Can I take the image off with the zen cart book? I would like to do all this before I get started.

Dee, Yes you can.. admin panel/ tools/ layout box controller admin panel/ tools/ banners A great place to start is the Blue tab on the top of this page called Tutorials/FAQ and simply search for what you are asking...

Thank you, had tried your suggestion in most of the FAQ for manufacturers, did a search for it and could not find it.

For Manufactures: admin panel/ catalog/ Manufactures

I have been there and so far have added 4 manufacturers, but they can not be seen on the index page.

Is there a certain order in which to add, I was going to start off with manufactures, then categores, then sub-categories.

I still would like to know how to add manufacturers on the main page and I still would like to know how to get rid of some side bars. I do not see how to add manufacturers via the admin.

Manufacturers don't appear on the main page by themselves. You have created 4 manufacturers in Admin - Catalog - Manufacturers, buut you haven't created a product yet, so there wouldn't be anything for the Manufacturer's link to link to.

When you create products and select the product's manufacturer from the drop down menu, then the Manufacturers side box will appear, if you've enabled it in admin.

Thank you so much for that I am working on them now. How do I get rid of sponsers? I totally understand what you stated for the products.

I want to change to title to one of these sponser side boxes to shop by room and populate it. I might need to either remove or change the other one as well.
