Preview while making changes

Hello,
I have checked the FAQ's and I could use some help!
I am just starting out and adding products. How do I preview the changes I have made? I have version t 1.3.8a

I usually just work with two tabs open in my browser -- one for the admin where I'm adding products and the other for the site, where a simple Refresh command will show me the changes. Just click back and forth between the tabs. (But I much prefer to do all this sort of thing on my own computer using a local install rather than on a live site.)

I make changes to my Wife's site all the time and can hit a preview button as I go. (not zen cart) Ok so I guess that means I have to publish the site first. Is that correct?

Yes, if it's only on a live server. But as I said, you can do all your development work and any subsequent major changes on your local hard drive, in a local copy of Zen Cart running in MAMP (for Mac OS X) or in XAMP (for Windows.) Then upload the results to the server when its done. Lots of threads around here giving all the details about doing things that way.
